We met Assal for one and only time in our office: she dispalyed her drawings scattered across tables, some of them hanging from twines. The drawings, with the prevalence of yellow, black and white colours, turn slowly into stories through Assal’s words. What strikes is her works is that they rapresente specific facts, very particular moments which concern with people Assal dealed with, but they become universal reflections on help relationships, disillutionmant, the gaze on diversity, the ability to pay attention, the violence. With a blunt language, like her own drawings, Assal told us the difficulties to be woman and immigrant.
